WEDDING DAY.
my overarching approach
Weddings are beautiful celebrations full of energy, love, delight. Stepping into these moments, my desire is to come ready with eyes wide open to document the beauty, celebration, quirks, excitement, design and emotion.
I continue to approach these moments with a photojournalistic sensibility. Observing is my forte and my desire to arrange and manipulate things as they unfold are minimal.
The biggest gift you could give me would be to be fully present with each other and the people you love.
The celebration may be short, but the emotions are big. I’ll be right there alongside you, capturing it with my (many) cameras in tow.
getting ready
While you’re getting ready, I’ll arrive to capture some of the candid moments. I often use this time to photograph details such as accessories, invitation spread etc.
what should I have prepared for when you arrive?
If you would like details to be photographed, please have any of the following things ready: multiple copies of the invitations, some loose florals, your dress and any accessories, all rings in the same location.
ceremony
I usually aim to arrive at the ceremony location about 30 minutes before the ceremony is scheduled to start.
During the ceremony I do my best to be a fly on the wall. My priority is capture all of the moments during the ceremony without disrupting the main event.
should our ceremony be unplugged?
There are a lot of benefits to having an unplugged ceremony. Guests are attentive to what’s going on, no accidental phones ringing, photos without a sea of phones or iPads in your wedding images. These things really help me to get a clear shot. All of this being said, I am 100% fine if you choose not to have an unplugged ceremony. It’s my job to work around and do my best no matter the situation and desire for you to have your day as you imagined.
family photos
On the online form I’ll ask you to submit a list of the family photo arrangements.
This list will ensure we don’t miss any photographs or arrangements.
I often opt for a location right by the ceremony for family photos. This makes it easier for everyone to gather and stay organized amidst the excitement of a wedding day.
portraits
My goal and intention is always to have portraits feel as effortless and natural as possible. I’;; help guide you both with gentle prompts and some direction, but I also desire to give you room and space to be yourself.
wedding party photos
I approach wedding party photos in a simple manor, arranging a few traditional group photographs. If photographs with your wedding party are a priority to you, please let me know and we can place greater emphasis on this throughout the day.
do you take a meal break?
Yes! I will take a brief break to eat, refuel and refresh :)
what are evening portraits?
photos in the evening or moments before the sun sets are a chance to sneak away from the reception and take a moment with your partner. I usually like to plan 5-10 minutes for this. Please let me know if this is something you’d like to incorporate into your day.
post wedding
I always send previews of the day 1-3 days after the wedding. The full gallery will be ready within 10 weeks after the wedding. Please keep your eye out for an email with an invitation to your online wedding gallery.
